Presenter Information

For the last 4 years, Doug has served on the IBAO Board of Directors, three of which as an Executive member. As IBAO President, Doug comes with over 34 years of experience in the insurance industry.

Doug began his career in 1982 working for a local brokerage in the Kitchener Waterloo area. In 1987, he opened his own brokerage. Three short years later, he merged with Bradley Gaskin Marshall Insurance, located in Cambridge, Ontario.

In 2005, Doug became sole owner of the company. With a vision to change the face of insurance, the company was moved to Kitchener and rebranded as the Advocate Insurance Group. Advocate has continued to grow organically as well as through acquisition.

In addition to obtaining his CCIB, Doug is a certified transformational trainer. When he isn’t in the office, Doug enjoys spending time at the cottage or swinging his clubs on the golf course.
Doug and his wife Char have four children - Scott, Cody, Melissa and Brett along with Brady, their Golden Doodle.
